SAI Thailand's Response to the Earthquake Incident: Transparency, Accountability, and Commitment to Reform

Bangkok,

The State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand (SAO Thailand) extends its deepest condolences to those affected by the recent earthquake on 28 March 2025 that resulted in the collapse of our new office building under construction.

As a leading institution in public accountability, we are committed to full transparency and responsibility. Immediately following the incident, SAO Thailand established an independent investigation committee and welcomed technical experts to assess the structural failure and the impact of the disaster.

We acknowledge that even as nature’s force is beyond our control, the integrity of public construction must always be safeguarded. We are turning this crisis into an opportunity to strengthen our construction oversight framework and to reinforce our commitment to resilience and ethical governance.

SAO Thailand pledges to keep all stakeholders, both national and international, informed throughout this process.

In collaboration with ASEANSAI, ASOSAI, and the INTOSAI community, we will share lessons learned, reform measures, and a renewed integrity framework to ensure that this tragedy contributes to the global body of knowledge on public infrastructure auditing.

Together, we rise—stronger, wiser, and more united than ever.
