51st ASOSAI Governing Board Meeting
Prof. Chaisit Trachoetham, Chairman of the State Audit Commission, Mr. Pisit Leelavachiropas, Auditor General, and delegates from Office of the Auditor General of Thailand (OAG) attended the 51st ASOSAI Governing Board Meeting in Bali, Indonesia, from 13th to 15th February 2017.
The 11 Governing Board members comprised SAI India, SAI Indonesia, SAI Japan, SAI Korea, SAI Malaysia, SAI Nepal, SAI Pakistan, SAI Saudi Arabia, SAI Turkey, OAG and SAI Vietnam. Other participants were SAI Jordan as Audit Committee, 2 other observers from SAI Cambodia as chairman of ASEANSAI and SAI China as self-nominator for the next Secretary General, and INTOSAI IDI representatives.
The objective of the meeting was to report the results of the activities of the ASOSAI Governing Board since the last meeting held in Chiang Mai, Thailand in February 2016. The highlight results were as follows:
- SAI Malaysia as the Chairman of ASOSAI informed the change of Heads of 4 members SAIs of ASOSAI: SAI Vietnam, SAI Myanmar, SAI Saudi Arabia and SAI Turkey;
- SAI Korea as the Secretary General of ASOSAI reported on the ASOSAI financial statements for FY 2016, the formulation of ASOSAI multi-year budget plan for 2018-2020, updated ASOSAI budget for FY 2017, ASOSAI Strategic Plan for 2016-2021 and the progress with other regional organizations co-operation such as ASOSAI-EUROSAI co-operation and ASOSAI-AFROSAI co-operation;
- SAI Japan as the Capacity Development Administrator of ASOSAI reported on the activities related to ASOSAI capacity development activities;
- SAI India presented the progress report on activities and achievement of the ASOSAI Journal;
- the approval of SAI China self-nominated to be the next Secretary General replace SAI Korea from 2018; and
- the selection of SAI to be the host country for the 15th ASOSAI Assembly in 2021. There were 2 self-nominated SAIs: SAI Philippines and OAG. OAG has succeeded from the voting 9:2 votes over SAI Philippines. Intrinsically, OAG will be a Chairman of ASOSAI for 2021-2024.
